SCECSAL AWARDS
SCECSAL Awards recognize library and information service professionals in the SCECSAL region that have made contributions to SCECSAL or scholarship from the SCECSAL region.
Current Awards
- SCECSAL Author Awards - honours and recognizes individual works by library, information and knowledge professionals in the SCECSAL region and ultimately encourage and promote research and authorship in the library, information and knowledge field in the region.
- SCECSAL Best Conference Papers - honours and recognizes individuals that have presented papers at the SCECSAL conference.
- SCECSAL Excellence Awards - honours and recognizes individuals that have made outstanding contributions to SCECSAL.
Special 50th Anniversary Awards
SCECSAL was established in 1974 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024. At its meeting on 26 October 2023, as part of the preparations for the 50th-anniversary celebrations, the SCECSAL General Council adopted a decision to institute the following special awards to honour individuals who have contributed to SCECSAL over the past five decades:
- SCECSAL Presidents Award – awarded to individuals who were serving as Presidents/Chairpersons (also awarded posthumously) of a SCECSAL member association at the time their association hosted its first SCECSAL conference.
- SCECSAL Hosts Award – awarded to the member association(s) that have hosted the most SCECSAL conferences as of 31 December 2023.
- SCECSAL Recognition Award – awarded to individuals and institutions/organizations that have made outstanding contributions to SCECSAL (the organization) or to the library and information profession in the SCECSAL region.
